I have focused my research on Irish regulations and information regarding the Corona virus and COVID-19. I think this disease is a good example of an emergency to be broadcast through an app, and there are plenty of examples to learn from as it has been so widely discussed in every form of media this year. First, I researched the symptoms and dangers of the Corona virus on https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html

Then I researched existing emergency response apps and studied their most innovative aspects.

I also looked at ServiceNow, a workflow app that has now implemented a customer care plan for the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, one can update colleagues about their health status and also has emergency outreach, self report, and exposure management capabilities.
I think it would help if we adopted some of these capabilities into our own prototypes. Inspired by ServiceNow, we could add settings to document the users unique vital signs and health, to greater relate different emergencies to them with varying degrees of urgency.

This is also similar to Medical ID's medical records capability on their app. In terms of interfaces, I believe the Red Cross and Guardly's app layouts are the best out of all the apps I looked at. They are easy to understand and use, and their respective colour schemes match the theme of emergency response well.
