Moya Wireless Emergency Alerts

Wireless Emergency Alerts

During my research of different elements we could include in our app, I wished to find a notification system that would work for both web and phone applications. I first looked into the Presidential Alerts utilised by the United States government, in which all citizens can be alerted by a text message in the case of emergencies. This is known as a Wireless Emergency Alert system.
I thought a similar system would be extremely useful for our own warning system, and would be even more efficient if we could also integrate it into our web application, perhaps as an email alert instead of SMS.

I then looked at the National Weather Service website (https://www.weather.gov/enterprise/sw-alerts-email-1a) for information about existing web alerts for weather emergencies. After comparing multiple free and paid for services, I believe desktop push notifications would be a great addition to our project, compared to an email alert which may be ignored.

I am also looking into the AMBER alert system, which uses an automated technology to update citizens in the area of a missing child. I think location based alerts would be extremely useful in our project, and we could integrate a map system into our application to aid this.
